A little practical help
Find your next step.
Recording & microphone
Choose a handpan profile that matches your tuning, layout and octaves. Start with a short phrase in a quiet room. Microphone access is needed for recording, calibration and live feedback. You can listen to saved recordings without it.
If recording cannot start, check microphone permission in your iPhone or iPad Settings for HandPanPro. Return to the app and try again.
Reviewing suggested notes
Automatic analysis is a starting point. Listen to the recording, review uncertain pitches and correct the notes. Overlapping sounds can need extra attention. A matching instrument profile and calibration help the app interpret your playing.
In Review, use Tempo and meter to refine the musical timing, then save your changes. The in-app notation is simplified; MIDI and MusicXML let you continue in compatible music software.
Setting BPM & the metronome
Open the tempo control in the player, enter a value in Tempo in BPM and choose Apply tempo. Use the plus and minus controls for one-BPM adjustments. The allowed range is shown in the editor and depends on the recording.
The recording and metronome follow the selected tempo together. For a continuous pulse across a repeated passage, use a loop containing whole beats. A loop cut between beats starts its rhythm again at the boundary; existing tempo changes in a recording remain audible.
Live practice feedback
Use a calibrated handpan profile, microphone access and headphones. Practise one note at a time so the app can compare individual strikes with the target note.
Silence or uncertain input does not count as a measured result. If feedback is inconsistent, check the selected tuning and octaves, reduce background noise and calibrate again.
Sharing & keeping a copy
Open a saved recording in your Library. Share recording prepares M4A audio. Share notes prepares MIDI or MusicXML. A HandPanPro archive can include audio, notes and instrument information. Check that your separate copy contains the audio before deleting the original.
Choose the destination in the system share sheet. Keep a separate copy before removing music you want to keep. Deleting something in HandPanPro does not delete copies you previously shared.
Getting started & compatibility
HandPanPro is designed for iPhone with iOS 18 or later and iPad with iPadOS 18 or later. No account is required. Try the included listening example before recording your own instrument.
Your recordings and note analysis are handled on your device. Device backups may include app data, depending on your Apple settings. Read the Privacy policy for details.
